Physical Science Homework
updated 5/8/08
This week:
5/8/08 - Physical Science Final Study Guide
Your final exam will cover everything we have learned since the midterm. It will consist of definitions, fill in the blank, diagrams, questions from old tests, and new questions.
Make sure you study the key terms and diagrams in chapters 11-15!!! Also make sure you study your old tests and class notes. Topics to be covered:
- Atomic particles (their names, their charges, their sizes, their places in an atom)
- Static electricity (voltage, attraction, how a charge builds up)
- Electrical current (amps, conductors, insulators, resistance, superconductors)
- Magnetism (magnetic metals, domains, where magnetism comes from, how magnetic force works, poles)
- Magnetism & Electricity (magnetism around a single wire or coil of wire, electromagnetic induction, electric generators)
- Waves (longitudinal & transverse, amplitude, wavelength, period, frequency, speed)
- Sound (pitch, volume, natural frequency, forced vibration, resonance, constructive interference, destructive interference)
- Light (electromagnetic spectrum, primary & secondary colors of light, selective reflection & transmission, dispersion, diffuse reflection, refraction, scattering, concave & convex mirrors & lenses)
- Global Climate Change (fossil fuels, carbon cycle, emitters of greenhouse gases, current effects of climate change, likely future effects of climate change
5/5/08
- Work on Climate Change project due Monday, May 12th. You can download a copy of the assignment here.
