I wanted to write a poem....
I wanted to write a poem that would cause revolutions
That would help evolution
A poem that would explain
That would emancipate and proclaim
A poem that would mean something to someone besides myself....
And this poem would be deep
Deeper than the diamonds that mini Africans mine with little hands
So deep... that it would take years to uncover all my layers and even after that
my meaning would be hidden from the ignorant like they were playing hide and seek
My poem would speak to the haters and the players
My poem would raise dead minds like Lazarus
and would be hazardous to the blind like the waste we place a little to close to the ghetto
My poem would change foreign policy and not worry bout foreign politicking
when the pot's bubbling over in our own kitchen
This poem would even cure AIDS and bring reparations to the children of slaves

I wanted to write this poem cause I knew it was needed
The hungry masses needed to be fed
and I wanted my words to have the substance their bodies craved
I wanted to use words that would stick to your brain like rib tips to ribs
I wanted to use words that would be so heavy,
SO heavy... that they would put you to sleep to process
after you've digested them
I wanted to used words that would give you the ITIS....
and after you woke up...
They... would.... incite.... us...

The poem that I wanted to write would right past wrongs,
sing slave songs, and rock....all... night.... long
This poem would empower the disenfranchised
and "de-power" the overly franchised
while making sure all votes are counted

I still want to write this poem, but I can't do it myself
So I want you to help yourselves: eat my ideas and swallow your fears,
Cause if we want to progress...
Someone needs to help me write this poem.
