| On choosing a language to study-- | An important goal of our program is to equip our students with the tools necessary for success in an increasingly global community. Our language courses emphasize both linguistic proficiency as well as cultural awareness. The choice of which language to take is an important one. Before making your decision, please consider the following: |
| French:
French is an international language, in wide use throughout Europe and many African countries, as well as Canada. American companies have over 2000 subsidiaries in France, and French companies have over 600 subsidiaries in the United States. French is the most widely used language after English at the United Nations and many other international government organizations. France continues to be a leader and innovator in science and technology, in particular in the fields of space, aeronautics, telecommunications, and environmental engineering. Once students learn the sound system, acquiring the vocabulary is relatively easy because so many English words derive from French origins. Learning French puts you in touch with a rich cultural resource of literature, music, art and cinema. And it’s fun! Our classes employ a variety of means including role play, games, and the study of popular music. Like to find out more? Click here: |
Spanish:
Over 23,000,000 Americans are of Hispanic descent, and the acquisition of Spanish can help one function in the increasingly bilingual United States. The United States also enjoys active political, economic, and cultural ties with Latin America and Spain. |
